Poem: From November 9, 2016 to Today

The ideologies are to be proudly spoken of
though not fully practiced,
weaponized to define who is in
and who is out.

I don’t want it
Remind me of empathy,
Solutions for all the humans.

Solace is found in the amber waves,
Less in rockets red glare,
In God’s grace shed,
not foul footstep's pollution,
cleansed by blood,
no longer sung.

"Millitainment" and the "Hero Fantasy" Culture

“When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system’s game. The establishment will irritate you—pull your beard, flick your face—to make you fight. Because once they’ve got you violent, then they know how to handle you.” —John Lennon

The following 2017 article by John Whitehead appears to draw a common thread through  mass shooters, and entertainment.

Mass Shootings: the Military-Entertainment Complex’s Culture of Violence Turns Deadly

I've observed many of the ideas considered in the article apply to the growing militia presence as we get closer to election day. It appears to me there are participants in a "hero fantasy" culture itching for a fight and are ready to engage in a self-fulling prophecy or their own making.

Countryside Visit

Sometimes, for personal well-being,  I park the car and walk along quiet paved country roads a few miles from home. This has been one of those times. Today it was windy out there.

Boat "For Sale" in a cornfield.

Donald Trump re-election flag snagged by weeds.

Is this the proper expression of patriotic correctness?

The "Punch Bowl" at Kinnickinnic State Park

The "Punch Bowl" is part of an old tributary that flows into the Kinnikinnic River about a 1/2 mile upstream from the confluence of the St. Croix River west. Only a trickle of water makes its way down the 60 foot high rock walls today.
